The high volume Hydrotech drum filters have changed. Introducing the new 1600 and 2000 drum filter Value series which include over 50 improvements, these drum filters offer great value for clients.

Key advantages

Unique solids extraction with patented Hydrotech ALPHAFLEX™ panels combined with improved solids trough design

Enhanced solids trough design providing up to 50% larger collection area and integrated front splash protection

Communication between ALPHAFLEX™ panels and solids trough enables faster and more efficient collection of particles from the water

Improved hydraulic design minimizes undesirable pressure losses

Custom-made profiles enable manufacturing in special alloys such as Duplex and Super Duplex steel

New drive arrangement with less components means a simpler construction that eliminates corrosion problems, reduces maintenance and offers safer operation

Automatic lubrication of main bearing and support wheels for almost maintenance-free operation and greater efficiency

To get a great overview of the latest features of this new range click on the following link which will take you directly to Hydrotech’s page on their website which runs you through an informative YouTube video, watch it here.

The smaller 500, 800 and 1200 drum filter series still offer a great solution for smaller volumes in plastic and stainless steel construction.

As the exclusive distributor in Australia and New Zealand for Hydrotech, we can provide you with any spare parts, exploded drawings or service kit information that you may need for your filter.

KB Food Company via its subsidiary National Fisheries has had a long association with the Lobster Industry. The business has developed industry leading Live Tanks facilities, in line with programmed cooking systems and has expanded to become the second largest Western Rock Lobster processor in Australia. National Fisheries today exports Western Rock Lobster to China, Singapore, Malaysia, Japan, France and the United States.

We designed and supplied 4 individual filtration systems for their factory, each of the filters is self-contained and very easy to install. The Hydrotech drum filter Model HDF803-1G was the perfect filter for this application.

A Tasmanian Salmon hatchery majority owned by Tassal Limited is located in central Tasmania, about an hour north west of Hobart. Technolab together with Hydrotech hydraulic engineers designed and supplied a filtration system for the outlet water from their two flow through farm sites. Each site required a filtration system for 700 litres per second. We used 2 drum filters Hydrotech HDF1606 filters for this project.

The unique design of the sump pit minimised the footprint of the system with the use of piped weir walls. The piped weir walls for the outlet and emergency by-pass reduced a normal outlet/emergency wall length from 14.4m to 4.4m an overall reduction of 10m in width! The system was installed at the outlet to the farms main settlement pond thus reducing the sediment load to the pond and to the environment. The system was commissioned in October 2019.

Mainstream Aquaculture’s state-of-the-art urban farm just outside Melbourne, raises Barramundi fingerlings and table fish Barramundi grown in geothermally heated spring water drawn from the ancient aquifer free of any industrial or biological pollutants.

When Mainstream was designing their new land based RAS grow out facility in Werribee Victoria, Technolab was approached to help design the filtration system. The RAS consisted of 2 systems each with a total flow rate of approximately 1,800 litres per second. This equated to 3.6 tons of water per second feeding the two biofilters!

Hydrotech hydraulic engineers together with Technolab designed and supplied two systems each comprising of 4 drum filters to effectively filter the return water from the 8 x 600m3 tanks. To reduce the footprint of each system the emergency by-pass was built with sluice gates which opened if the intake channel exceeded a pre-set high level.

The system was commissioned in December 2017.
