Portable optical dissolved oxygen meter for aquaculture and water quality monitoring
The OxyGuard Polaris C is a handheld optical dissolved oxygen (DO) meter designed for fast, accurate measurement of dissolved oxygen and temperature in water. Using LDO optical technology, it requires no membrane or electrolyte, making it a low-maintenance choice for routine DO monitoring in aquaculture, hatcheries and water quality applications.
Built for practical water quality monitoring
The Polaris C can store up to 2,500 complete data sets with time and date stamps. Measurements can be logged manually or automatically and organised into categories.
Bluetooth and NFC connectivity allow measurement data to be transferred to Cobalia for storage and analysis. Operators can scan a Cobalia NFC tag at a tank to associate measurements with that specific location, helping organise and track water quality data across multiple tanks or monitoring points.
Stored data can then be used in Cobalia to review changes over time, generate graphs and analyse water quality and performance data.
The meter also includes built-in checks of the probe, meter, cable and battery and automatically compensates for temperature and barometric pressure. Its fast response and straightforward operation make it well suited to routine water quality measurements in the field.
Dissolved oxygen monitoring in aquaculture
Dissolved oxygen is one of the key water quality parameters monitored in aquaculture. A portable DO meter allows operators to quickly check oxygen levels at different tanks, ponds, raceways, hatcheries and other monitoring points.
The OxyGuard Polaris C Optical DO Meter is suited to routine spot checks, verification of fixed oxygen monitoring systems, troubleshooting and water quality assessments. Its portable design makes it particularly useful when dissolved oxygen measurements are required across multiple locations within an aquaculture facility.
Why choose an optical dissolved oxygen meter?
Optical dissolved oxygen measurement offers a low-maintenacce alternative to traditional membrane-based DO sensors. The Polaris C LDO sensor requires no membrane or electrolyte and provides fast, stable dissolved oxygen measurements without the routine maintenance associated with conventional electrochemical probes.
For aquaculture operators, this makes the Polaris C particularly useful for regular water quality checks where reliability, portability and ease of use are important.
